So Tomato did the location change titles (see what I did there, with the title of the post? Salsa. Cause its Tomato. Clever right? Hysterical.)
I liked the transitions, before I knew they were Tomato and its funny, I was reading this post by Ben Terrett at Noisy Decent Graphics and his thought process was similar to mine, though I tend to ignore when other people don’t like things. Hence my current haircut.
It’s going to be like this all weeks folks, bad jokes and lame comments. Tanner and Adria are on vacation, so just get used to it!

An interesting article and photo documentation of some of the studies going on over at the Royal Acadamy of Art in The Hague
Dutch Design can be seen in one light, only design for designers themselves. On the other hand, its a reflection that Design can be pushed intensively to its best creative extent than just for commercial sustainability.

Postage stamps by type designers

The Offices of Kat Ran Press present a series of postage stamps designed by Neville Brody (pictured above), Wim Crouwel, Adrian Frutiger, Eric Gill, Erik Spiekermann, Hermann Zapf and the like.
Although a field that is often overlooked by bibliophiles and historians of printing and typography, several of the most important contributors to twentieth century book and letter arts have made significant contributions to the design of the seemingly modest postage stamp.
Its not every day I get a chance to say: I would be honored to lick nearly anything on this site.

I’m generally grumpy and antisocial. So when I see logotypes adjusted to display a distaste for friends, unhappiness and puns, I perk up a bit. Not enough to smile, but still, just a bit.

VIVID Gallery presents Wim Crouwel
VIVID Gallery recently announced a Wim Crouwel exhibition that runs between 11 October + 23 November 2008.
In case you’re in the dark, Wim Crouwel is a designer, artist, professor, museum director and typography extraordinaire who cofounded Total Design, the first multi-disciplinary design studio in the Netherlands. VIVID sums it up well when they explain, his works “are still fresh. [They contain] the original spirit on which a lot of contemporary design is based. Therefore his work is both inspiring and influential for present and future generations.” Read more. →

Chip Kidd is one of the many great designers who said they were too busy to do our questionnaire.
Which is totally understandable, given he had just released a new book and was starting a band. This is the first music video for that band, Artbreak.

Phoenix will be the site of 5 new billboards this week, promoting a separation of church and state, and freedom from religion. This makes it one of the few times I’m glad to be in Phoenix in August.

College Humor presents “Font Conference”
A rather ridiculous spoof of a type conference found on College Humor. I couldn’t resist.
