a lot of times, test prints have to be stopped because the paper becomes too wet or heavy with the weight of the multiple layers of ink.

though…if it’s something more publicly displayed, like these obama prints, it may be pre-planned to sell the ‘test’ prints.

There has to be planning, we are talking about craftsman and designers. Most likely they stop on various stages of muddiness. Must be nice to have a free feeling like that. Almost like Bob Ross and his ‘happy accidents.’
