Last week, a friend pointed me to the blog/portfolio of Mark Boulton. Mark Boulton Design has primarily made small websites for little clients; you know, such as the BBC and ESPN. Now, they’re tackling the infamous drupal.org.
Drupal is known for having a large, passionate community. The designer has embraced this by (boldly) posting everything from initial logo sketches to process (asking “cap D or not? splash or not?“) and even discusses a bit of theory.
Sometimes it can be dangerous to let it all hang out so early in the game. People may be wary to see a half-designed identity on the chopping block. (Though, he openly admits that the logo above is “a work in progress” and Mr Boulton ensures “[this] will not be a design by committee process - the designer will have the final word.”)
If you find this as interesting as I do, by all means: join in the conversation.
