Objectified: the new Helvetica

Gary Hustwit just announced the follow-up documentary to last year’s Helvetica, which brought public attention to the obsessive world of typography.

I’m quite excited to see that Andrew Blauvelt is listed as a contributor; we were lucky to interview him for Issue 1 of Fill/Stroke magazine, as well. He must be very busy these days.

A note from Gary:

First off, I want to thank all of you for your support during the making and release of Helvetica. The last two years have been quite an adventure, and it was my privilege to have you along with me. So I’m hoping you’re up for joining me on another adventure: Objectified, my forthcoming documentary feature about industrial design. It’s about the manufactured objects we surround ourselves with, and the people who make them. It’s about the world of creativity behind everything from toothbrushes to tech gadgets, featuring some of the world’s most influential industrial designers.

Objectified is set to premiere in 2009. A short synopsis:

Objectified is a documentary about industrial design; it’s about the manufactured objects we surround ourselves with, and the people who make them. On an average day, each of us uses hundreds of objects. (Don’t believe it? Start counting: alarm clock, light switch, faucet, shampoo bottle, toothbrush, razor…) Who makes all these things, and why do they look and feel the way they do? All of these objects are “designed,” but how can good design make them, and our lives, better?

Here are the other announced contributors. (I took a stab at finding interesting URLs. Feel free to suggest alternates in the comments.)
